FRESHER, SAFER AND MORE NATURAL PRODUCTS
Through its research and development project, CONSERVAPESCA, SP GROUP aims to apply innovative processes and implement easy-to-follow guidelines in the industry that guarantee the safety and sensory quality of seafood products.
The main objective of CONSERVAPESCA is the development of a new range of high value-added seafood products (mainly tuna and shellfish) that adapt to current consumer trends.
In order to achieve this, we are integrating different transformation, packaging and preservation techniques that guarantee traceability and food safety throughout the manufacturing process. In this way, organoleptic properties are maintained and the service life of the product increases, allowing companies to safely increase their volume of business and exports.
Furthermore, this project aims to meet current needs and consumer demands, which see seafood forming part of a balanced and healthy diet. In order to do this, new formats, materials and designs are being used which provide a value that sets them apart within different sales channels. In addition, life-cycle analyses (LCA) of the developed products are carried out, and economic, social and environmental aspects are taken into account for any decision-making.
The CONSERVAPESCA project, with a budget of over 5 million euros and lasting 3 years, forms part of the INNTERCONECTA programme promoted by the Ministry of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment and run by the Innovation and Development Agency of Andalusia (Agencia IDEA) and the Centre for Industrial Technological Development (CDTI). It is also co-funded by the Technology Fund (FEDER Fund).
This project is being carried out by a consortium of 7 companies that are market leaders in the production and marketing of seafood products, catering, additives and packaging in the Andalusian food and technology sectors. These companies are:
